frankenstein makes me want to cry.
the poor guy obviously just wants to be loved, and it's not his fault that he was made so ugly. but what people can't see is that even though he's so ugly on the outside, he has a good heart on the inside.
i've only read to the part where creation meets creator. i wish the creator made a smarter choice, then perhaps, we could have a happy ending for frankenstein- despite it being sad in the beginning.
i'm a sucker for happy endings see. (:
but two things i've learnt:
1) for everything you do, there's a price to be paid.
victor frankenstein thought he was being very smart and cool by building a 'living thing', but when he regretted it because he thought the thing ugly. then very smartly and irresponsibly, he ran away from his creation for 2 years. during the course of the 2 years his creation killed his brother, and his adopted sister. that's the price he paid for dwelling in 'unhallowed arts'. (sorry i don't feel sorry for victor frankenstein at all. he deserves it.)
2) don't judge based on outward appearances.
it's so sad to see frankenstein simply wanting to have a friend and then people chasing him away and smacking him with sticks when all he wants is to say hello and talk to them.
i think it's very real in life too. don't we all prefer beautiful things to un-beautiful things?
(i know i do- but i'm learning to appreciate true value!)
the only interesting thing that happened on friday was that i got to talk to sarah during my free block. it wasn't exactly her free block but her chem teacher wasn't around so her class was just slacking. i was bored too (cos i don't really have anybody in class to talk to) so i went over.
samantha sits next to her, and the 3 of us had a very nice talk about church and faith. i love talking to sarah because most of the time we link everything back to God and our faith and i find that important because it makes God real in our lives. even if we see each other for just a short while our conversations are always meaningful, and i really treasure them.
i'm glad to know that she's happy and doing well. (:
and one thing she said really made me think, which kind of reminded me of year end service 2008. "i used to search a lot and ask God about a lot of things, but He has shown me that all i have to do is to trust Him. it's amazing cos it's like some thing hidden under the velvet cloth, which God doesn't want to reveal yet, but yet you know it's gonna be a masterpiece." moulding a masterpiece!- sometimes God sends things in our life that we don't understand why they happen, but it's for our good. it's really hard a lot of times when things are not going well to say, "it's for our good".
i've been questioning God for some time too about some things, but i think i shouldn't any more because like what He promised, it's for our good. (: and i have to trust Him.
thank you sarah. (: we must go on our promised rain-walk soon okay!- when we find rain. (: or if not we can just go to changi airport and walk around too!
that's for friday.
saturday was crazy.
my whole day was packed with activities.
0715h- house practice
1230h- gym
1600h- yf
1830h- reunion dinner
i was actually considering not the go for yf because i still haven't packed for obs but then in the end i decided i would cos i want to hear the message for today. (: i'm glad i went. yf is good because after the whole week of school it's like finally relaxing and soaking in God's word.
house practice was fun. (: i got assigned to help out with long jump (thank goodness not javelin or any throw-y thingy!) the sec 1s are really cute! :D
gym! i actually was really reluctant to go. but i promised etinne i'd be coming, so in the end i still went! to be honest i'd rather to do conditioning than the routine + moves because i'm scared only on the tramp.
i got the feeling for half-turn back drop but i'm not sure if i can replicate it the next training, which will be a week later. ): i'm still adjusting the angle at which i lift up and the angle at which i stick my hand out. hopefully i get it soon!
half-turn back is still a lot less scary than back somer! hahaha back somer is gonna be the death of me some day man. but i didn't do back somer this training because etinne and yin xin both felt it was a bad day and so i didn't feel like doing it either. (:
"you must work on the problem when you know there is one"- sigh. i know i should be practising my back somers a lot a lot more than what i'm doing now, but sometimes i really just can't bring myself to do it. i want to do it, really i do, but i'm just SCARED. and you can't just don't-be-scared suddenly. it's pressurizing to have all your batchmates never scared of anything and you're the only one there who's scared of everything.
actually to be honest i also don't know what i'm scared of.
i'm just scared.
but i still do it!- and i must still do it.
):
I HAVEN'T PACKED FOR OBS, AND IT'S TOMORROW.
obs obs obs.
D:
okay i shall go and pack now.
