hello :D
we had YF dedication service yesterday.
"for believers, love is not a choice, it is something that must be done." no matter how hard it is!
and i think that is very true, and very applicable.
because if God loves us so much, surely we must share this great love with others too!
believers and non-believers alike.
i still remember dn oon once said during our bbk class, "it doesn't matter who the other person is, or what he/she is like. love as Jesus loved."
and rev quek reminded me again yesterday. he said, "it doesn't who the other person is, believer or non-believer. the thing is, YOU are a christian."
loving others, is something i find easy.
loving others unconditionally is the hard part.
let alone your enemies.
well i don't have people i consider enemies but when i do have some... (:
but if i really love someone i'd do anything in the world for you. (:
my resolutions for 2009 stay the same as last year because i think i haven't really fulfilled them yet and so i'd like to start again this year.
1) to draw closer to God
2) to be a better testimony for Him
3) love others unconditionally
i've been thinking a lot recently- thinking is good okay! (: i'm serious. thinking helps you reflect and learn from past actions (not regret!) and make decisions well. yes i was thinking about this year and what is expected of me. and even if people don't expect anything of me, i know God does, and i have a few expectations of myself too. (:
i think it's awesome to see all the people around me growing up so fast, and serving in the exco and everything. people i've known in sunday school taking on important roles in the exco and serving God. everything seems to happen so fast.
and so the ctyf exco for 2009 are (if i remember correctly!): sharon, lemuel, karen, jiahui, aaron, jj, shing, yew weng. (hopefully i missed no one out)
yew weng is the newest exco member. and i think he'd make a good member. (: especially as head of the evangelism ministry.
hahaha ministries! this year i don't think i'm going to be in newsletter any more because i want to focus on welfare instead. (: it's such a coincidence that this year's yf theme is parallel to my own personal focus: loving people unconditionally. (: that's what made me say yes to join welfare.
and why i'm-not-going-to-be-in-newsletter-any-more? focusing on welfare is one thing, but another reason is maybe because i'm not so sure if i can commit this year. i'll gladly write (doesn't mean anybody should arrow me okay!) but being in the producing team is kind of stressful, and this year i don't feel very ready for newsletter yet. i'm thinking of letting it rest for a year and maybe joining back next year. (:
ohhh and we have new groups! :D hahaha this was something i was pretty excited about. i can't really remember the names since they're so greek to me- literally! my group is called energeo -i think!- and i can't remember what it's called in english, but it describes love. (:
aaron's my group leader and i'm his assistant. i'm still not very sure what an assistant group leader does but i'll find out in time. (: all i know is that i'm to assist him. i haven't got to meet my group members yet, but i'm sure they're all nice people. :D
school tomorrow is still gonna be pretty relaxed and then tuesday we'll head back into full swing. i hope i like this year's class (i shan't judge before i know it!) even though i miss 212'08 a lot. ): hahaha okay 312'09 we must rock the world. (:
especially obs!
my obs is very very soon- 12 january! that's next next monday lehhh. i actually don't really want to go but i'm not given a choice cos it's compulsory in my school for all the sec 3s to go unless you're sick or MC-ed. D: and unfortunately i am neither.
sigh.
i hope to be more low-profile in class this year.
i want my sec 3 year to be really nice and relaxed so that i'll be fully charged up for sec 4 next year. of course not meaning that i intend to slack in my studies or anything, but more of lying down and soaking things in instead of making things soak the whole time.
get what i mean? (:
sec 3 feels old! people always say it's a big jump from sec 2 to sec 3, and i'm barely into sec 3 and already i'm feeling the gap. blehhh. i feel so senior and old and responsible all of a sudden.
and like what i keep telling people, 15 is 2 years away from 17, and 17 is 3 years away from 20!- before you forever lose your teenage years.
wow.
isn't that fast!
5 more years before i lose my teen-ishness. (:
and why does nobody seem to get what it feels to be old. everybody just laughs at me when i say sec 3 feels old. especially my mum and my sister lah.
me: mum i feel very old!
mum: feeling old is only for people who are old you know.
me: but you're older than me!
mum: but i don't feel old see.
and then jolene's one is worse.
jolene: sec 2 feels funny, it's like i'm so old or something.
me: yeah you're old alright.
jo: hahaha but you're older than me.
jolene quek you totally didn't have to say that right. (:
conclusion of this post: I FEEL OLD. period.
